Project Summary
The CHPP was losing coal due to poor floatation performance - New pumps and Sumps required

Project Brief
Increase lost coal production due to poor flotation performance, not enough floatation and thickener capacity - 1.5% lost yield.
Requirements
- Project aligned with structural integrity issues of tailings and concentrate sump- holed and risk failure
- Scope of project was to remove existing sumps and upgrade with larger sumps as well as additional pumps for redundancy
- Scope also allowed for filtration and Teetered Bed Circuit modifications to ensure lowest ash product in floatation/filtration circuit
- Significant works carried out during plant operation which added to the complexity of the project execution - balance of work complete within a 2 week shutdown period
- Project brief also included all project management, tender preparation and assessment, contractor selection processes and execution
- Budget - A$6 million
Deliverables
- New pumps and sumps, filtration circuit modifications - froth volume unconstrained
Business Outcomes
- 1.5% increase in yield
- Froth volume unconstrained increasing fine coal yield
- Successful project completion, on budget and on time
- Zero incidents
